Great way to keep track of everything

Avantages:

You can use this software to monitor your drivers as well as fuel and DEF levels. You can also use it to dispatch and determine ETA's to provide on-time deliveries. Keep track of your driver's movements for the day. You can also view real-time photos of the driver's location and keep track of traffic and other issues.

Inconvénients:

I don't have any issues with Samsara. It has a been a great help to me and my work.

Frontier

Commentaires: We originally switched our dashcams to the Samsara Dashcam as our prior providers product was having issues being connected and recording when it was needed. The switch was easy and the product was excellent, through that we were able to get a preview of the other features available from Samsara. When we decided to make the switch for all of our telematics it was easy and straightforward. I was surprised at how effortless it was to connect our TMS software to Samsara.

Avantages:

The ease of use for both the driver and for the operations team is what stands out the most. Our drivers were able to pickup and use the Samsara ELD with little to no training as it is very intuitive.

Inconvénients:

I would like some more integration options with 3rd party vendors that integrate directly into the driver app and not require another app to operate (Navigation, scale/toll bypass).

Dissatisfied

Commentaires: My overall experience with Samsara has been the worst. Not only do they force you to keep devices for 3 years even when your trucks are no longer working/total loss due to accidents. You continue to pay for non working equipment. Customer service doesn't try to resolve matters.

Avantages:

software works great easy to use no issues while trucks were moving.

More useful than you realize

Avantages:

I am a warehouse supervisor for a company that uses Samsara vehicle tracking. I can track vehicles in our location's fleet, know when one is at a maintenance facility and plan around that. I can find installation crews when they are in developments that have not been updated yet in other map programs (if they show an address it is typically in the middle of an open field still). I can plan the daily loading and mid shift loading around the locations provided. Our company also uses Samsara for Daily Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR), which when used properly gives our fleet managers the ability to schedule, or request immediate maintenance on our fleet. The more you use this tool and learn to use the different features available the more effective a tool it can be.

Inconvénients:

I would like to see the aerial/sattelite photos/maps updated more frequently. Some are years old, based on buildings that were built years ago, but the picture shows a farm field.

Commentaires: Samsara has been a great tool not only in organizing and managing out vehicles and assets, but has allowed us to successfully defend against false claims. Samsara is such a value additive software, that it dampens my frustration with the many bugs and problems evident in rushed development and poor testing for certain features. I honestly can not say this for any other software I use.

Avantages:

Everything you need is included, and in one place. Fleet tracking, cameras, HOS, safety, performance, and dispatch tools all live in one place. Additionally, the team is very responsive in creating one-off or custom integrations should you need them.

Inconvénients:

The cameras, the logic by which they record, and the dashboard for viewing them could use some work. You're unable to retrieve segments more than 60 seconds in length at any one period of time. They offer a "hyperlapse" mode, but I find this to be a useless gimmick as the compression effectively omits frames making it difficult to identify incident times.

Samsara Review

Commentaires: Samsara has been a great service so far. I find much more value with this service than past providers. I also expect that we may begin using some of the additional features when we get time to work with them.

Avantages:

Samsara is very user friendly, it seems to have endless features you can use. We like the cameras they offer and have them on all of our route service based vehicles to be able to confirm missed trash collections or confirm issues with why carts may have not been collected.

Inconvénients:

Pulling the camera footage can occasionally be difficult just because the points on the map do not always align perfectly with the footage. This is a simple problem to fix, I just expand the amount of footage I pull.

Full Fleet Management

Commentaires: Positive, continuously improving, and clearly a leader in the fleet management/dash cam software industry. They have all the features and then some.

Avantages:

Ease of installation was very important. This is a plug and play, while other options must be wired in by installers at a cost. The interface, features, and overall usability are much better than the two other companies I have used.

Inconvénients:

Usual high pressure sales to start the process, but the negotiation and closing process was very smooth. Some reports and insights are slow to update but overall seems to be very accurate.

Complete package for GPS and DOT compliance

Commentaires: It's really nice that Samsara GPS pings frequently. This means you can watch vehicles moving in real time, which is great for updating VIP clients. The DOT compliance portion completes the GPS services.

Avantages:

It's great having GPS, driver logs and vehicle inspections in one place. Our team uses GPS daily to keep on top of trips in progress for our chauffeur service. We do have vehicles that are under FMCSA jurisdiction, so we need to keep detailed driver logs and vehicle maintenance files, which are all done through Samsara as well, making things easier.

Inconvénients:

Unlike our last GPS service, you're not able to drop a pin to get a time when a vehicle was at a certain location. This is a bit of a nuisance and you have to guess.

location on log book is not as exact as could be. we travel northern canada and gps and logs does not state the locations

Samsara vs Teletrac

Commentaires: Overall the product is very reliable, the company is very proactive in checking on units and sending out new ones when tracking unit does not even show us a problem. they are very quick to send out add on units. customer service is GREAT !

Avantages:

Very comprehensive. There are probably more thing built into the software than we actually loose.

Inconvénients:

would like to see mile markers easier on the map search when looking at trucks.

Great product at first, but falls down after a few months

Commentaires: They are great to work with until you have issues. Once you have issues they ghost you and are impossible to contact. I would look at other ELD solutions and avoid this company and its software.

Avantages:

Seemed easy to use and during the trial period the sales support was very active and helpful. once we were past the trial period, support disappeared and functionality starting failing. Many bugs that cause inaccurate locations and routing. Dispatch functionality does not work or improve over time as promised. The hardware in the cab has already started to fail in less than 12 months. Document capture frequently fails without notice to the user.

Inconvénients:

Lack of user roles for dispatch. No ticketing module. Uses inferior wireless network so conectivity is spotty.

The BEST GPS System

Avantages:

Software was so easy to set up and use. We also use the on dash cameras which have proven very useful in providing teaching moments to our drivers.

Inconvénients:

No cons. This has been the best product to manage our fleet.

Great Products, Great Customer Service

Commentaires: I have touched may departments in Samsara and they always make you feel like they are your #1 customer. Response time is great and they quick to follow-up to make sure everything is to your satisfaction.

Avantages:

We are in the honeymoon stage with Samsara and so far everything is great. The implementation team was amazing and made sure the setup process was very easy. The dashboard of the program is great and the integration with my other favorite software is on point. It is the best integration I have seen so far.

Inconvénients:

It is a bit pricey but well worth the spend in my book. All it's missing, in my opinion, is a timesheet option for drivers and non-drivers and then I would be totally satisfied.

Samsara The Best Product on the Market, Above and Beyond!

Commentaires: Samsara is next gen top of the line. We have saved millions on non-accidents due to the high quality video and camera stills. The lack of down time has saved us uncountable dollars. Very easy to setup, configure, and implement. I was able to order, receive, program, install, and have 400 trucks working in 3 months, all while taking our time. Service is the BEST I've ever dealt with, quick to reply, always answer the phone. Lifetime warranty on hardware. I could go on for hours...

Avantages:

The camera will send you video when an event happens, no waiting for a driver phone call, or not being aware of an incident/accident. Has saved us millions in the first 6 months of use. The driver ELD app is customizable (workflow) and VERY EASY for drivers to learn and use. Equipment install is 5 minutes, driver training is 15 minutes. After 400 installs and driver training this time savings is enormous. Over 400 cameras, vehicle gateways, 600 trailer trackers, and ZERO hardware failures. Plug it in and it works! With no formal training I was able to unbox, program, install, and use the hardware/software the first day.

Inconvénients:

The driver app has a few pages where there is no next or advance button, you have to use the upper left back arrow ( <- ) on some pages to go back or exit a page.

Software constantly has issues

Commentaires: The software constantly has glitches. Some glitches were not so important to me but, others made Samsara more of liability. Also, it was always a challenge to get help when system had issues. The response I received 95% of the time was... Our engineers are working to get this resolved and months would go by before the problem was solved. Not to mention I was locked into a contract for 3 yrs.

Avantages:

It is cloud based, has real time location of truck with map and has a driver app.

Inconvénients:

Software is faulty. Most recent issue gateway is supposed to automatically record driving time but, it's recording driving AFTER driver is going off duty and truck is parked.. causing HOS violations on log.. tried editing but, because the edit is from DRIVING (incorrectly recorded) to OFF DUTY it indicates there is still an ELD violation. Reached out to Samsara they said it will be about 2 months before this can be fixed. I've decided not to renew my contract.

Avantages:

Samasara has a great reputation in the trucking industry. we are using GPS tracking and we are very satisfied with the service.

Inconvénients:

we are using trailer tracking system from last 2+ years. we are very satisfied due to: system is very easy to use, great customer service , price is very reasonable, knowledgeable & very helpful staff.

A great system

Commentaires: We had another elog system that we had issues with the system connecting to it's own components in the truck and keeping a signal so that the driver could stay logged in on the system. The Samsara system has removed all of the issues with connectivity.
It also has a much better dashboard of features than the other elog system. When you can give engine codes to the repair shop, repairs can be done quicker as well.
A feature the previous system did not come with at all was a dash camera. The Samsara system allows you to add on a camera that works in conjunction with the system. For our business, we decided to do the dual cam so we can see what the driver is doing as well as see what was going on in front of the truck. When the drivers heard we were looking at getting cameras, they asked to see if we were going to get the driver cam. The drivers wanted to make sure we got them so that when the next car versus truck accident happens to them, they will more likely be found not at fault since they want to be seen as paying attention and not distracted. Of course there are the drivers that did not want them due to "big brother" concerns. Everyone does agree when the time comes, that the camera will save their job if they were doing their job.

Avantages:

The software is all on the internet. I can use the fleet management portion on my tablet, my phone, or any computer as long as I have my login information. So far any tablet or phone I have tried the driver app on has worked.

Inconvénients:

Only the most minor of issues and even then it is almost not worth mentioning however to be an honest review I do need to mention it. The driver app has locked up while being used on the tablet. No reason has been found as to why as of yet. The app also does not keep the tablet screen on when the app is running which some people don't see as an issue.

Commentaires: all good till the cams. told salesman had to have audio. frnt facing cam that he said did have audio doesnt. i got ahold of him and he said he'd get it turned on. ive called and left messages 4 times since and left messages. no reply!! called coustomer service she said she'd give him the message. its been 2 weeks now without a reply. so now im paying for something i didnt want. so to say the least im not too happy..

Cutting Edge Fleet Safety and Monitoring System

Commentaires: The company has been extremely responsive throughout our business relationship with them. They have done programming to make the software fit our unique business needs. Overall, the experience has been fantastic.

Avantages:

The equipment was extremely easy to install, and functioned well from the start. Video image quality is outstanding (and can be used to identify license plate information of adverse vehicles in a wide range of light conditions. Software uses artificial intelligence to identify risky driving behaviors (including rolling stops, cell phone use, distracted driving or drowsiness). The most useful feature is instant notifications by email or text when an alarm is triggered. GPS location displays are great, and access to video clips is outstanding.

Inconvénients:

We have had very few issues with the software, and are very happy overall. We had some minor issues on some older vehicles connecting to internal multiplex data, but these were quickly resolved.

Stay Away Horrible Unethical Company that Just wants your Money

Commentaires: HORRIBLE, we left our previous ELD company due to awful service and unethical treatment as a customer. Samsara promised to be a good business partner and has done nothing but fall short. Do your self a favor look else where for companies that Value your business and WANT to work with you. Keep in mind this company like many others will lock you into an additional contract period (3 more years) at the end of your first one if you do not provide notice.

Avantages:

The Product is somewhat simple and not to hard to use however the app will put drivers on duty when they take them off duty. Making edits in the driver reports is annoying and more time consuming than necessary due to needing to leave a remark for every edit.

Inconvénients:

The most disgusting part about this software is the team behind it. DO NOT purchase this software. This is a money grabbing company that will use contracts and unethical tactics to take your money. This company will NOT work with you or be a good business partner. I have a Fleet that I currently am building up. Initially we signed a contract for the starting 8 devices we needed. I purchased another truck recently. I contacted Samsara for another device. In response to this they sent me a contract for an additional device. Which would have been fine however this contract had different timeline terms. Meaning at the end of my contract period we would still be liable for that other device for an additional however many months. I called my account manager to explain that I am building my fleet and planning on almost doubling my trucks. I explained I wont be purchasing these trucks at the same time, I would gradually be acquiring them and would not like to have individual contracts on every truck at different periods throughout the year. Signing the contract would have been fine if the trucks I purchased fell into the same specifications as the original contract. There was no budging or help on their end. This means I would have 6 to 8 additional trucks all with different contractual obligations. [Sensitive Content ] is who I was talking to. There was no help no budging just no. A company like this should be your business partners but Samsara just wants to TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU.

Disappointed and Unsupported

Avantages:

The control and data entry portion of the daily log is good and easy enough to understand.

Inconvénients:

This list will be lengthy.... 1. Random duty status changes for no apparent reason and into statuses that shouldn't be possible. For example while driving it puts you into ON DUTY NOT DRIVING or just the opposite. 2. While driving it will switch to you co-driver and start logging on their log. 3. Won't track and will enter wrong locations in completely other states. 4. Will lock you out and not allow entries... their answer... uninstall and reinstall. Like I have tome for this especially in low data signal areas. 5. Day / Night mode is at set times which don't cha need bases on time of year so you have this huge bright white screen staring at you while driving at night in rain and snow. Not a problem if you aren't close on time monitoring it. 6. Message system is pure crap... no DELETE an no MARK AS READ options. 7. Often will not detect driving or motion of the vehicle and must be entered manually which means I have to pull over and stop on busy highways to do this... that's safety.

Extra sets of Eyes on your Fleet

Commentaires: So far Samsara has helped with tracking and fleet management tremendously. It has been able to catch time lost and also has been helpful in routing orders with the ability to see where our techs are.

Avantages:

Ease of use - Samsara helps with reflecting accurate tracking of where are vehicles are at all times. It makes payroll easy by confirming where our drivers were at the exact time.

Inconvénients:

Settings on the website can be a tad confusing but overall the site is generally user friendly.
